Smoked Paprika Roasted Almonds

Bursting with smoky flavor these Smoked Paprika Roasted Almonds are a tasty snack! Only three whole food plant-based ingredients.

This recipe is for my mom. She's always snacking on these store bought paprika almonds that are drenched in oil. I realized that I could roast some almonds without oil and still deliver the delicious taste of the store bought ones. Let me know if you like them, mom!

Almonds are so healthy but it made me sad oil masking their nutrient density. Many people consider oil a health food, but when you think about it you'll realize that oil is actually highly processed.

Oil is made by pressing the fat out of plants (like olives, coconuts, etc.). Oil has a big check mark next to plant-based but it is just a product of a plant, not a whole food. Does olive oil look anything like whole olives? Does vegetable oil look like vegetables? Nope.

Even 'healthy' oils like olive oil have negative effects on your body. They stiffen your arteries and affect their ability to dilate -- a necessary function. Further, oils contribute to the buildup of plaque along blood vessel walls, increasing heart attack risk. You can easily get all the supposed health benefits of oils by eating whole food sources of fat -- like almonds! Both delicious and nutritious, almonds are one of the healthiest foods!

How to make Smoked Paprika Roasted Almonds

To make, start by soaking the almonds in water while you preheat the oven. This is what allows the paprika and salt to stick without using oil.

After about 10 minutes, or when the oven reaches 350, drain the almonds and place them on a baking sheet. Sprinkle on the paprika and salt. Stir to combine.

Roast for 10 minutes, stir, and then roast for another 5-10 minutes. You want the almonds to brown lightly but not burn. Let the almonds cool before eating. This helps them retain their crunch that they may have lost when you soaked them. Eat and enjoy!

  • 1 Cup Raw Almonds
  • 1 Teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt


  1. Soak the almonds in water. Preheat the oven to 350. Allow the almonds to soak while the oven is preheating.
  2. When the oven is heated, drain the almonds and spread on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with the paprika and salt. Shake the pan to coat. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the almonds are lightly browned. Stir halfway though. Remove from the oven and let cool. Enjoy!

thank you for the oil free recipe. I'm getting introduced to wild Bolete mushrooms here in Colorado, and everyone sautes Bolete's in butter or olive oil. I'm on a veggie, oil free regimen for heart health reasons. and your recipe suggestion may fill the bill. I can't wait to give it a try.
